The Captain's Cottage

Sleeps 2-5 people

The delightful Captain’s Cottage was once home to Captain Bill Drage, last of the River Murray’s iconic paddle-steamer captains.

Jim has sympathetically restored the buildings with consideration and authenticity. It is ideal for 2-5 people who love history, nature, free access to quality kayaks & trails and appreciate the yesteryear experience of amenities in out-buildings.

Within minutes of Renmark-Paringa, our property sits on the Murray River with easy creek access. One dog is welcome per stay.

Rules

Fire

A fire pit is available in season. Please bring all your own firewood or buy some from us when you arrive. Collecting our fallen timber is not permitted and all fire regulations must be observed. Your camp fire is to be extinguished by 10pm.

Pets

One dog is welcome but please keep your pet on a lead near the water.

Music

Music and voices through speakers do not fit with our environmental expectations.

Motorboats

Please note we don’t provide motorboat access. You can launch from the Wilkadene boat ramp and moor your boat near our waterfront. Both Renmark and the Woolshed Brewery are reachable from our site. Please respect that our guests come for the tranquillity so minimise noise and wakes along our waterfront.

PS Julie Fay

Hire of the Captains’ Cottage is not available in conjunction with hire of PS Julie Fay B&B.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted inside.

Extra Considerations

Fruit and Vegetables

Please note that, as a food production area, Renmark is struggling to control a fruit-fly outbreak. Please be aware of current laws and regulations for moving fruit and vegetables in and out of the area.

Busy Periods

Some times are not always peaceful on the river: Despite our relatively secluded position, the river will be busy on long weekends and school holidays.

Cancellations and Refunds

A full refund will be made for any bookings cancelled in writing up to the Saturday before check-in (check-in being 3pm on Friday, the first day of your booking).

There is a 50% refund if your booking is cancelled within 3 – 7 days of check-in. There is no refund if cancellation is made within 48hrs of check-in.
